Copyright Infringement

So I have noticed this has become a trend in terms of songs via Miley Cyrus. I don’t know about you, but I am kind of irked by this scene. I’m going to start off by saying that Miley Cyrus, to some extent is pretty cool- not going to lie- I am a fan, I like her music, TV show, and I did see her new movie. She is a HUGE star, has millions of dollars to her name, and is ranked in the top 10 of famous teen pop stars. But with all that, she is trying to present herself as a role model to the preteens of the world.

Well lets just take a minute to relish in this- a role model- a 16 year old girl dating a 20 year old underwear model (who is unbelievably attractive), but, correct me if I’m wrong, even if its consensual its still considered illegal. She is getting caught up in drama of Hollywood; she is on her way to being the next Lindsey Lohan, as she is bashing other musicians like Radiohead. Although she is dating a 20 year old she still has obvious feelings for her ex Nick Jonas, fellow 16 year old (actually they recently went to lunch together and Nick was driving his new sick '66 mustang and they got into a fender bender because he doesn’t know how to drive a car with no power steering (Not Cool).

Ok so back to her song writing. Miley is trying to bank on the fact that she writes her own music and all her own songs. Her last album "Breakout" was a chart topper and she swears she wrote all the songs her own, but I can see right through her. The song "Breakout" in which she even used to title her album was a cover by Katy Perry, did she gives Katy Perry credit for it- nope. Miley "plagiarized" the song. It’s called copyright infringement. The same thing happened with her song "Four Walls" it was a cover of Cheyenne’s song and she didn’t credit Cheyenne either. Again same with Cyndi Lauper’s song “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.” On her most recent album- the Hannah Montana the Movie Soundtrack she advertised that there were 12 new original songs she wrote herself. Little did she know- that the truth would come out eventually. 11 of the songs have a slight possibility of being a Miley Cyrus original- well no I take that back, she doesn’t write any of her Hannah Montana songs, the show has writers for that. But the final song she sings in the movie was actually written by Taylor Swift, one of her good friends. Way to be a backstabber.

XOXO LP
